    Last Night

I was laying in a gutter in front of the New Beverly, trying to take a picture of two friends at the place where they met. It’s impossible, by the way, to get the top of that marquee and a couple on the ground in frame. But I sure did try. It was the last thing on their to-do list before driving across country to start new lives as East Coasters.

Afterwards, I hugged them both goodbye and started the long walk back to my apartment. My place is just a few blocks too far for walking, but I do it anyway. I listened to this song twice, and teared up with the realization at how quickly and completely you can love people and a time.

So thank you both for being my Summer of 2011, Los Angeles will miss you. But not half as much as I will.

In my box of Nice Memories.
